Platform Administrator

AQ Advanced customers have access to eight specialised roles for different functions. Other tiers include three core roles: Sustainability Administrator, Sustainability Contributor, and External Partner.

Role definitions

Sustainability Administrator

License type: Pro

Full platform access for sustainability leaders. This role is designed for sustainability leads who need complete control over data, analysis, and team management.

Key capabilities:

  • Upload and manage all Input Data

  • Create and edit Business Entities (Business Units, Facilities, Products)

  • Full analytics access including creating and publishing workbooks

  • Manage team members, roles, and Business Unit access

  • Configure organisation settings and authentication

  • Lock and unlock Corporate Footprint years

Limitations: None — this role has all permissions.

Platform Administrator

License type: Lite

Technical platform administration only. This role is designed for IT administrators or operations staff who manage users and platform settings but don't work directly with sustainability data.

Key capabilities:

  • Manage team members, roles, and Business Unit access

  • Configure authentication settings (SSO, 2FA)

  • Manage API keys

  • Manage organisation preferences

  • View workbooks and basic analytics

Limitations: Cannot upload data, cannot edit Business Entities, cannot create workbooks, cannot download analytics data, but can manage the organisation's settings, security controls and API.

Measurement & Reporting Professional

License type: Pro

Lead on your footprinting journey, with a focus on calculation and reporting. This role is designed for sustainability analysts focused on corporate carbon footprinting and reporting.

Key capabilities:

  • Upload and manage Input Data

  • Create and edit Facilities and Products

  • Full analytics access including creating and publishing workbooks

  • Download and export analytics data

  • Lock and unlock Corporate Footprint years

  • View audit log

  • Manage API keys

Limitations: Cannot manage team roles or authentication settings, cannot manage Business Units, cannot create or manage Data Requests.

Supply Chain Engagement Professional

License type: Pro

Organise and lead a supply chain engagement programme, with oversight over progress. This role is designed for procurement sustainability specialists managing supplier engagement.

Key capabilities:

  • Create and manage Suppliers and Franchise Partners

  • Create and manage Cohorts for supplier grouping

  • Create, edit, and delete Data Requests

  • Full analytics access including creating and publishing workbooks

  • Add custom Environmental Factor sources

  • Upload Input Data

Limitations: Cannot lock or unlock Corporate Footprint years, cannot manage team roles or authentication settings, cannot edit Facilities or Products.

Sustainability Contributor

License type: Lite

Generalist contributor to measurement data entry and supply chain data exchange. Access to company dashboards and analytics. This role is designed for team members who input data and run basic analyses across both measurement and supply chain activities.

Key capabilities:

  • Upload and delete Input Data

  • View workbooks with basic explore capabilities

  • Create, edit, and delete Data Requests

  • Share data with customers

  • Use Data Request comments

  • Model decarbonisation initiatives

Limitations: Cannot create workbooks, cannot edit Business Entities, cannot manage suppliers, cannot download analytics data.

Measurement Contributor

License type: Lite

Data entry for footprinting and access to company dashboards and analytics. This role is designed for team members who collect and upload emissions data as part of the measurement process.

Key capabilities:

  • Upload and delete Input Data

  • View workbooks with basic explore capabilities

  • Model decarbonisation initiatives

Limitations: Cannot create or manage Data Requests, cannot edit Business Entities, cannot manage suppliers, cannot create workbooks.

Supply Chain Engagement Contributor

License type: Lite

Support supply chain data collection. Access to company dashboards and analytics. This role is designed for team members who support supplier communications and data collection.

Key capabilities:

  • Create, edit, and delete Data Requests

  • Share data with customers

  • Use Data Request comments

  • View workbooks with basic explore capabilities

  • Model decarbonisation initiatives

Limitations: Cannot upload Input Data, cannot create suppliers, cannot edit Business Entities, cannot create workbooks.

External Partner

License type: Pro

Advanced access for external collaborators (consultants, auditors), but with strict data access controls. This role is designed for consultants, auditors, or franchise partners who need platform access for specific projects.

Key capabilities:

  • View and upload Input Data

  • Add and edit Facilities and Products

  • Full analytics access including creating and publishing workbooks

  • View audit log

  • Create and manage Suppliers and Cohorts

  • Create and edit Data Requests

Limitations: Cannot add or remove team members, cannot manage roles or Business Unit access, cannot upload or download sensitive data.
