⚠️ Pre-calculated emissions are only available for beta-users for now. We will notify you when this feature becomes available.
This article explains what data you need to provide when uploading pre-calculated emissions for Utility Use activities.
What activities does Utility Use cover?
The Utility Use activity area includes these specific activities:
Electricity Use - Purchased Electricity
Electricity Use - On-site Generation from Fuel
Electricity Use - On-site Renewables
Heating Use
Heating Use - District Heating
Stationary Combustion for Operations
Water Use
Required data fields
Basic information (required for all activities)
Facility Name
Select the facility where emissions should be allocated
Choose from your existing facilities in the platform
Activity Name
Select the specific utility activity from the list above
This determines how your emissions are categorised
Calculation Method
Choose the method that matches how your emissions were calculated
For each sub-activity, you can choose from available calculation methods below:
Sub-activity | Available calculation method |
Electricity Use - Purchased Electricity | Energy Purchases |
Electricity Use - On-site Generation from Fuel | Energy Generation and Combustion |
Electricity Use - On-site Renewables | Energy Generation and Combustion |
Heating Use | Energy Generation and Combustion |
Heating Use - District Heating | Energy Purchases |
Stationary Combustion for Operations | Energy Generation and Combustion |
Water Use | One of:
|
Start Date and End Date
Provide the period your emissions cover
Use YYYY-MM-DD format
Input Quantity and Input Unit
Enter the activity data quantity (e.g., 1,500)
Select the appropriate unit (e.g., kWh, MJ, m³)
This enables complete analysis capabilities in the platform
❓
Why do I need to provide input quantity and input unit?
Activity inputs enable analytics capabilities of AQ platform. Using them, you will be able to track your emission trends on a comparable basis and plan emission reduction initiatives
Emissions Are Estimated
Select "Yes" if your emissions are estimated
Select "No" if they're based on measured data
Emission quantities by lifecycle stage
You need to split your total emissions across relevant lifecycle stages. The required stages depend on your activity type (marked with ✅ if required)
Activity | Generation Emissions | Well-to-Tank Emissions | Transmission & Distribution Emissions | Water Use Emissions |

Scope category assignments (required)
For each lifecycle stage with emissions, the template would provide default the scope category. You can change the scope assignment by using the drop-down menu in the template.
Default scope category assignments:
Activity | Generation Emissions | Well-to-Tank Emissions | Transmission & Distribution Emissions | Water Use Emissions |
Electricity Use - Purchased Electricity | 2.01. Electricity Use | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - |
Electricity Use - On-site Generation from Fuel | 1.01. Stationary Combustion | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - | - |
Electricity Use - On-site Renewables | 1.01. Stationary Combustion | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - | - |
Heating Use | 1.01. Stationary Combustion | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - | - |
Heating Use - District Heating | 2.02. Direct Heat Use | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - |
Stationary Combustion for Operations | 1.01. Stationary Combustion | 3.03. Other Fuel & Energy Related Activities | - |

| 3.01. Purchased Goods and Services |
❓
Can I provide emissions by scope separately?
Pre-calculated emissions template is designed for you to enter all emissions related to the same activity across different scope categories together. This ensures completeness of your footprint and compliance with GHG Protocol
