How to request and upload estimations

In this article we will walk you through how to request and upload Activity data estimations. For more information on our Estimation methodology, you can visit this Help Centre Article.

When should I request estimations?

You can request estimations up to once a quarter for any single activity. Before you request estimations you should ensure:

  1. All your Actual Data is Live and Published in the platform, and you are happy with the numbers; this is because we use your Actual Data as the basis for generating estimations.

  2. Your Facility information is correct and up-to-date - this includes open dates, facility types, and floor area and FTE. You can find this information in the Manage Data > Facility Structure section of the app.

  3. You've marked any activities that aren't relevant as such in your Corporate Footprint Tracker; this is so we don't estimate to fill the 'gap'. You can find your tracker under the Manage Data > Corporate Footprints section of the app.

What estimations can I request?

Altruistiq can generate estimations to fill spatial and temporal gaps for the following Activities:

  1. Purchased Electricity

  2. Heating Use

  3. Water Use

  4. Stationary Combustion for Operations

  5. Solid Waste Generation

  6. Wastewater Generation

  7. Fugitive Emissions

How do I Request Estimations?

You can request estimations via Ask Your Advisor. To do this, start a new conversation and click 'I have a question or request' and then 'I want to request estimations'.

What happens after I've requested my estimations?

Once you've submitted your estimation request, our team will generate your Activity Data estimations and share them back to you in templates via Ask Your Advisor, ready for you to review and upload. You will receive one template per estimated activity that you have requested.

Once you have reviewed your data, you'll need to create a templated data source in the app for the relevant activity. We recommend calling these 'Estimations- Activity'. Once uploaded, we will then process these like a standard template and publish these emissions.

What if I want to change my Estimations?

You will only be able to request estimations once per quarter per Activity. However, you can edit the Estimations template we share with you and re-upload it, if needed. For example, if you receive actual data to replace an Estimation, you may want to delete the estimation from your Estimation Template and re-upload it.

How long will it take to generate my Estimations?

It will take a maximum of 10 working days for us to generate your Estimations. Don't forget you'll then need to allow time to upload them, and for them to be calculated and published.
