I can't find the right label in Data Importer

Written by Jamie

Why labels might be missing

The labels you see depend on your selected calculation method. Different methods support different emission factor databases.

For transport emissions

Distance-based calculation method:

  • Only supports vehicle types where full emission volume applies to one trip

  • Examples: car, van, motorcycle

  • Not supported: plane, train, bus (use distance-weight or distance-passenger methods instead)

Distance-weight or distance-passenger methods:

  • Required for shared transport: planes, trains, buses

  • Allows accurate allocation of emissions per passenger or weight

For waste emissions

Quantity-based method:

  • Uses UK Government emission factor database

  • Different waste types and treatment options available

Spend-based method:

  • Uses Exiobase emission factor database

  • Different label options than quantity-based

How to request different emission factors

If the label you need isn't available, Data Importer uses a subset of our full emission factor database.

To request a different emission factor to be applied:

  1. Label your data with “Unknown”

  2. Use Ask Your Advisor

  3. Select “Request reports or additional calculations”

  4. Request change of emission factor selection
